Clark Beckham , American Idol’s Season 14 runner-up, has released a long-awaited post-show debut single.

At one point, Clark Beckham appeared the favorite to win Season 14 of American Idol.

He wound up finishing second, and just released his first single since the show aired in the spring of 2015.

His new song is called “I Need” and landed Friday.

“I wrote “I Need” thinking of immaterial things that we need. Love. Peace. Faith,” Clark wrote on Facebook.

And he apparently recorded the song with some pretty accomplished musicians — Steve Jordan, Pino Palladino, and Isaiah Sharkey — all of whom have performed with John Mayer.

“John Mayer, thanks for letting me borrow your band! Honored to have THE greats on my first release since Idol,” Clark said.

Listen to the song below, and you’ll realize why Clark was a favorite on The Voice. Check out the comments on his Facebook page, and you’ll see how warm a reception the new song is getting.

Oh, and the 25-year-old had some other big news for fans this week.

He’s signed a management deal with producer / actor / musician Quincy Jones, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who produced some of Michael Jackson’s most popular albums.

“He’s got an unbelievable team with fantastic artists and big dreams,” Clark said. “Still can’t believe I’m working with THE Legend Quincy Jones on this musical journey of mine. Big things are coming.”

Clark’s also on tour this fall with Jon Bellion. You can check out all the tour dates here.

Pre-Idol, Clark released a pair of EPs, a self-titled project in 2013 and “Songs About Her” in 2014.

You can also follow him on Instagram. On Twitter, he’s simply @ClarkBeckham.
