Carrie Underwood provided one of the night’s musical highlights at the CMT Music Awards with a tribute to Oklahoma’s tornado victim.
Then she took the night’s top honors, winning video of the year for “Blown Away.”
The video for Carrie’s title track to her latest album beat out Taylor Swift’s “Never Ever Getting Back Together,” Jason Aldean’s “1994,” Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart” and other nominees to win the fan-voted video of the year honors.
Just minutes before receiving that award, she took the stage with members of the choir from a Nashville church to sing her latest single, “See You Again,” as a tribute to tornado victims.
Carrie hails from Checotah, Oklahoma.
Earlier in the night, Carrie and Kelly Clarkson had missed out on the other awards for which they had been nominated.
Miranda won female video of the year with “Mama’s Broken Heart.” Carrie had been nominated for “Two Black Cadillacs.”
And honors for collaborative video of the year went to “The Only Way I Know” by Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Eric Church. Kelly and Vince Gill had been nominated for “Don’t Rush.”
Now, more photos from the show.
