Cole Vosbury might have lost his knockout round match on The Voice Monday night.
But he’s winning the battle on iTunes.
As of 11 a.m., Cole’s version of Passenger’s “Let Her Go” was sitting at number 19 among the site’s most downloaded single.
And it’s the only performance from last night’s show to crack the top 200.
Cole, of course, was saved from elimination on the show when both Adam Levine and Blake Shelton tried to steal him. He opted to join Team Blake.
Cole’s single is also number 13 on the iTunes pop chart today.
The 22-year-old from Shreveport, La., said he hoped to make the Passenger song better known by performing it on The Voice.
He sure accomplished that mission. Passenger’s version is the seventh most downloaded single on the site this morning.
In a conference call Tuesday afternoon, Cole said he heard the song just a week or two before having to pick a song for the knockout round.
“That slow, pretty acoustic style stuff is what I like to do,” Cole said. “I wanted to show different style compared to what I had done before.”
Cole says he’s felt like an underdog on the show so far. He sang “Movin’ On Up,” the Jeffersons theme song, for his blind audition, and only a tiny portion of his battle round was televised.
“People are kind of taking notice of me now,” he said. “Hopefully, I can top it and do better. The reaction has been amazing.”
Other songs to chart from last night’s episode of The Voice (remember, songs from those who don’t advance aren’t available for download) …
* Jonny Gray, Cole’s knockout partner, is 22 on the rock chart with “We Can Work It Out.”
* Kat Robichaud is at 83 on the alternative chart for “You Oughta Know.”
* Tessanne Chin is at 102 on the pop chart with “Stronger.”
* Shelbie Z. is number 165 on the country chart with “Last Name.”
* Josh Logan is number 172 on the pop chart with “Living in the City.”
Also worth noting — two of the most popular songs on the iTunes charts are of previous performances on the show.
Preston Pohl is at 37 on the alternative chart with “Electric Feel.” Holly Henry’s version of “The Scientist” from the blind audition is still at number 57 on that chart.
