After American Idol

Constantine Maroulis, equipped with new music, is back in rocker mode

Maroulis was fronting a rock bank before he made the Top 6 on Season 4 of American Idol.

He became a star on Broadway by playing an aspiring rocker in “Rock of Ages.”

Now he’s returning to rock mode with new music.

Our first taste: “Here I Come,” a song released about a week ago as the lead single to an upcoming album.

“‘Here I Come’ is my love letter to a rock n’ roll New York night,” Constantine says on his website.

The album? It’s described this way on that site: “It’s the album (Constantine) has always wanted to make —- a brash, fun, big rock record, oozing attitude and big hooks … The content is playful, raunchy, and uplifting.”

Apparently a second song, “She’s Just Rock N’ Roll,” will also be released early this year.

Constantine hasn’t released an album since his post-Idol, pop-heavy “Constantine” back in 2007. The album debuted at number 75 on the Billboard 200.

Oh, and the Season 4 standout will also return to our TV screens next week. He’s one of the former Idol “stars” returning to mentor and sing duets with two members of the Top 24.
