Constantine to play Jekyll & Hyde

0

Constantine Maroulis sent out a tweet on Friday that massive news was coming.

That prompted all sorts of guesses from fans of the Season 5 Idol contestant, from whether he was releasing a new album to whether he would appear in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

The announcement came late Sunday: Constantine is heading back to Broadway, playing the lead role of Jekyll & Hyde when the show begins its run in New York in the spring of 2013.

First will come a 25-week national tour that will begin in San Diego on Oct. 2.

Constantine did release one album since Idol, a self-titled CD in 2007.

But he’s enjoyed on stage, most notably in “Rock of Ages,” a role that earned him a best actor Tony nomination.

Constantine is currently playing the lead role in “The Toxic Avenger” in Houston, which means dual roles aren’t something new to him.

That show runs through Feb. 12 in Houston.
