Six matches were featured as the Season 11 battle round got under way Monday night on The Voice.

But only three contestants went home.

That’s because three of the battle round singers in danger of eliminations — Courtnie Ramirez, Lauren Diaz and Jason Warrior — wound up being stolen before the night was over.

Here’s the recap. Follow the links attached to each singer’s name and you find a profile complete with lots of information beyond what we’ve learned on the show. And the number is parenthesis is the number of chairs the singer turned in his or her blind audition.

Best of the night

Team Alicia

The match: Christian Cuevas (3) vs. Jason Warrior (2)

The song: “Hello” by Adele

The verdict: Alicia declared Christian the winner and threatened to whoop some butt if either singer went home. Alicia said she thinks America will fall in love with him. Jason was stolen by Adam.

My take: It was a performance marked by impressive vocals and even more impressive harmonies and emotion. Honestly, I thought Jason came off as the better singer.

Surprise of the night

Team Miley

The match: Ali Caldwell (4) vs. Courtnie Ramirez (2)

The song: “Hit or Miss” by Odetta

The verdict: Miley awarded the win to Ali, calling her voice “one of the sickest in this competition.” Both Alicia and Blake attempted to steal Courtnie. She decided to join Team Alicia.

My take: Ali was one of the most impressive singers in the blinds and followed it up with another great performance. Perhaps even more impressive was how Courtnie, just 17 when she auditioned, held her own. Oh, and I loved Miley’s song choice.

A deserved steal

Team Alicia

The match: We McDonald (4) vs. Lauren Diaz (3)

The song: “Maybe” by Janis Joplin

The verdict: Alicia awarded the win to We, saying she has “a real individual voice.” Lauren was stolen by Miley Cyrus.

The coaches got it right

Team Adam

The match: Natasha Bure (1) vs. Riley Elmore (1)

The song: “Cry Me a River” by Ella Fitzgerald

The verdict: Adam awarded the win to Riley, calling his voice instantly recognizable. Blake said he would have given the win to Natasha. Alicia agreed Riley won the battle.

The match: Billy Gilman (4) vs. Andrew DeMuro (2)

The song: “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson

The verdict: Adam awarded the battle to Billy, saying he bases his decision on who he thinks “can win this thing.”

Team Blake

The match: Sundance Head (2) vs. Dan Shafer (1)

The song: “Feel Like Makin’ Love” by Bad Company

The verdict: Blake choses Sundance to advance. And, in one of the weirdest compliments in Voice history, tells him “all of a sudden, that voice comes out of there and it literally blows my brains out of my head and into the toilet and the toilet flushes itself.” OK, then.
