Craig Wayne BoydNice to see NBC giving Craig Wayne Boyd a high-profile opportunity to promote his new winner.

The network has announced that the Season 7 champ on The Voice will be the opening performer at the 2015 Miss USA Pageant.

And in the process of making the announcement, the network filled in some of the blanks about Craig’s musical plans.

Craig will sing a medley of three songs to kick off the pageant; one will be his new single, “Baby Doll.”

When I interviewed Craig a couple weeks ago, he declined to reveal which song he’d release as his next single, but talked up that tune in particular, saying it was getting great audience response at his gigs.

“It’s a fun-loving song about this girl that you meet, you just fall in love with her and she’s you’re baby doll,” he said, describing the tune as “the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band meets Def Leppard.”

And it was part of his set when he performed at the Pullo Center in York last week.

The press release from NBC also indicates Craig will be releasing his debut album this fall.

Other performers at the Miss USA Pageant will include Flo Rida and Natalie La Rosa.

The pageant will air live on NBC on Sunday, July 12, beginning at 8 p.m.
