Season 9 American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox has launched a Go Fund Me page to help support her mother after fire destroyed her home — which was Crystal’s childhood home — late last week.

“What was once a rustic, well-lived in farmhouse given to my mother by her father, is now nothing but a pile of unsalvageable debris,” Crystal wrote under a photo of the ruins.

Crystal writes that her mother “lost absolutely everything” and adds on Facebook that there was a period of time when she had heard about the fire but couldn’t confirm that her mother was safe.

She describes that as “the absolute worst feeling of my entire life. We’ve had our ups and downs of course… but dagnabbit, that’s my Mama.”

The good news is that the community around her mother’s Ohio home is pitching in to help her rebound. So are contributors to the Go Fund Me page. As of Monday night, the effort had exceeded its initial goal of $10,000.

Crystal expressed her appreciation in a heartfelt Facebook post you can check out here.
