Dallas Caroline was just 17 when she auditioned for The Voice, going up against the most season cast in the show’s history, but made it all the way to the knockouts before being eliminated.

Along the way she turned the maximum number of chairs available with a blind audition performance of “Always on My Mind,” landing a spot on Team Blake Shelton. She was so impressive during a battle round performance of Maren Morris’ “I Could Use a Love Song” that Alicia Keys stole her when Blake declared Spensha Baker the winner.

Dallas’ time on the show ended in a knockout round match with Britton Buchanan that aired Monday night.

But the teen from Santa Rosa, Calif., says she’s already been working on original music since those matches were filmed — original music she hopes to release in the not-too-distant future.

Here’s what Dallas told Voice Views about her time on the show and her plans moving forward.

Voice Views: I know the knockouts were filmed in early February. What have you been doing musically since then?

Dallas: Since the knockouts, I’ve been working hard on writing and creating some original material. I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support my community had showed me, so I’m excited to start performing live again.

Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? What do you have planned next? Do you think you’ll be releasing new music in the future and, if so, what can fans expect?

Dallas: I feel like I grew tremendously during my time on the show. Being able to work with two different coaches from two different genres was an amazing experience for me as I was able to learn so much from them as well as their advisers.

I am country artist, but I definitely am influenced by all styles of music. In June, I’m going to Nashville and I have some exciting shows planned and I will also be doing some writing and recording. New music is definitely coming soon!

Voice Views: What was your favorite performance from The Voice and why?

Dallas: I enjoyed every performance on The Voice, but one that stands out in my mind was my blind audition. I dedicated my blind audition song (Always On My Mind) to my hometown. I am from Santa Rosa, Calif., which was recently hit with devastating wildfires. It was very important to me to bring attention to Santa Rosa and to hopefully honor my hometown and my community.

During my blind audition, three of the coaches turned their chairs for me, each using their last chair turn. Alicia Keys’ team was full, but she said it would’ve been a four-chair turn which was amazing! I am so grateful to them for turning for me and hearing something in my voice and my performance that inspired them enough to want me on their team.

Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice experience? If so, in what way?

Dallas: Throughout my journey on The Voice, I grew in ways I never even knew were possible. From my confidence, to my experience level, to the people I got to meet and work with. Being surrounded by so many talented people all sharing a similar dream, competing against friends who have become family, working with the coaches as well as all the amazing people behind the scenes is incredibly humbling and inspiring. I am forever grateful to The Voice for allowing me to grow in so many ways.
