Exciting news for Danny Gokey fans, because he can’t get much better exposure than this.
The third-place finisher from season eight announced today that he’ll be one of the opening acts for Taylor Swift on some dates of her “Speak Now” world tour.
And some tour it promises to be.
U.S. and Canada dates begin May 27 in Omaha, Neb., and run through Oct. 29 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Of the nearly 60 dates for which tickets are already available, about two-thirds are already sold out.
That includes all four shows in Newark, N.J. (July 20, 21, 23 and 24), where Danny will be one of the opening acts for Taylor.
So if you’re looking to get tickets the conventional way, and want to see Danny opening for Taylor, your best bet is a June 18 show at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Tickets are still available for that one, and run between $54 and $106.
Taylor’s tour will also be stopping in Philly (Aug. 6) and Washington, D.C. (Aug. 2 and 3). All three of those shows are sold out as well; at this point Danny is not listed as an opening act for those dates.
Other dates that will include Danny are July 8 in Charlotte, N.C., and July 9 and 10 in Atlanta, Ga.
Danny is now about a year removed from the release of his debut album, which peaked at number three on the Billboard country album chart.
He also recently announced a $1 million fundraiser for Sophia’s Heart, the foundation he created in honor of his late wife. You can learn more about that here.
