Danny Gokey is back with a new single today.

The song is called “Hope in Front of Me.”

Danny Gokey from American Idol Season 8 released a new single Tuesday.

And if the title sounds familiar, it’s the same title used for the inspirational memoir Danny released back in October.

What won’t sound as familiar is the music.

After finishing third on Idol Season 8, Danny “went country” and scored a modest hit with “My Best Days are Ahead of Me,” which cracked the Top 25 on the country singles chart.

The 2010 album “My Best Days” debuted at number three on the Billboard country chart and number four on Billboard’s overall chart.

But there isn’t a hint of twang on the new single.

“With this record, we really wanted to just capture more of who I am — more of the soul, and more of all of me as an artist,” Danny told The Hollywood Reporter last month in an interview you can read here.

And there was another primary goal when recording the new single, he said.

“When you write about hope, don’t make it sappy; make it cool, make it adaptable,” said Danny. “They want to move to it, but that message is feeding their soul.”

The single is the first song from a new album Danny hopes to release this spring.

And he told The Hollywood Reporter that “Hope in Front of Me” is “just the tip of the iceberg, because we got some songs on there that people are going to go wild over.”
