So, if you missed “Change of Plans” Saturday night, you missed a very good acting debut by season seven American Idol contestant Brooke White.
I’m not sure an Emmy is in her future, but Brooke came across as quite believable in the film. I wouldn’t have guessed it was her first film if I hadn’t known better.
And the movie was enjoyable, even if the ending seemed a bit contrived.
I mean, without giving the twist away for those who haven’t seen the film yet, Phylicia Rashad might just win an award for the most easily convinced social worker in the world.
But, hey, what did you expect? This was a Walmart-P&G Family Movie Night film, after all.
The best part for fans of Brooke’s music (and count me among them) — she sang parts of three songs in the film. And they sounded excellent.
In a tweet last week, Brooke said she co-wrote all three, one with fellow season seven contestant Michael Johns.
I can’t wait to hear the full songs.
But, alas, we’re apparently going to have to wait a while.
The Change of Plans DVD/CD release — they’ll be sold as a combo pack like previous Family Movie Night releases — will be available Tuesday, March 22.
Meanwhile, check out this interview of Brooke explaining how she landed the role.
