Daughtry: An out-of-tune guitar and the stories behind the songs

Chris Daughtry (AP Photo)Daughtry’s second album hits stores next Tuesday (July 14), but you can learn the stories behind the songs now.

Monday on its Web site, the band posted the first in a series of video interviews on how the album tracks came together.

First up: “You Don’t Belong,” a song true fans will be familiar with because Daughtry used it as the opening number during the band’s 2008 tour with Bon Jovi.

Apparently, Chris wrote the chorus in the dressing room before a show, when he was fooling around with an out-of-tune guitar the band members were going to sign for charity.

Video number two focuses on “No Surprise,” the first single from “Leave This Town” and a song Chris wrote with the help of Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.

As for the music, head here and you can listen to the entire album now.
