David Archuleta released his second Christmas album on Friday.

The calendar just flipped over to November, but David Archuleta has already released his new holiday album.

And you might say it’s being pretty well received.

Early Saturday morning, 24 hours after its release, “Winter in the Air” was sitting at number three on iTunes holiday albums chart.

Perhaps more impressive, it was number 25 on the site’s overall album’s chart.

And the first single from the album, “Christmas Every Day,” was number 11 on iTunes’ holiday songs chart.

That type of fan support, 10 years after his runner-up finish on American Idol, has been one of the most surprising things about his career to date, David said in a recent interview with FOX 13 in Salt Lake City.

“The bigger surprise is that people are still interested,” David said, when asked to reflect on his career. “I try to be realistic about things.

“Even when I was in high school, with American Idol, (his first hit single) “Crush” and all that, I thought people were just excited because I was on a popular television show that everyone liked. And I thought, ‘Okay, people will be done with me once this is done.’

“And here 10 years later, I’m just amazed that people are still interested in what I’m doing and invested and supporting what I work on.”

David, now 27, released his first Christmas album, “Christmas from the Heart,” nine years ago, but says he always knew there would be another somewhere down the round.

“Winter in the Air” features 12 songs, including three originals, plus covers of classics like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, “White Christmas” and “Mary, Did You Know?”

David also released a four-song holiday EP in Spanish and will embark on a 15-date holiday tour later this month. You can check out those tour dates on David’s website.
