How did it go?

“Beat my old time. 27 minutes,” David said in a tweet sent out shortly after the race. “My legs are currently plotting my demise. Thanks again to everyone. Amazing energy today.”

Better than David’s race time is this bit of news.

If I’m reading the Race for Hope Web site correctly, David Cook’s Team for a Cure raised more than $140,000 toward the fight against brain cancer.

That’s nearly twice as much as any other team participating in the fundraising effort.

David, of course, lost his brother, Adam, to brain cancer last year.

He also got involved with Race for Hope last year, when his team was also tops in fundraising.

This, of course, comes on the heels of David’s trip to a girls’ school in Ethiopia and his appearance on the Idol Gives Back episode to share the story of that trip.

It’s always nice to see a former Idol share their good fortune by helping the less fortunate.

There’s still time to donate to this year’s Race for Hope. Head here for information.

And there’s still time to bid on items in a Race for Hope auction — including a race T-shirt autographed by David (current high bid $350) and a Gibson guitar signed by David (current high bid, $3,350).

Bidding for both of those items ends Monday evening. For more info, head here.
