David Cook fans won’t want to miss Sunday’s episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on ABC (8 p.m.).

In the show, David and rapper Xzibit help the Extreme Makover team rebuild a home for two factory workers with a 12-year-old girl battling a congenital blood disease.

Of course, anyone who knows the story of David’s brother will realize why it’s an appropriate episode for the season seven Idol to be involved in.

David fans will also want to check out the photo gallery just posted on his Web site from his New Year’s Eve concert.

Of course, David played the York Fair in September and told Idol Chatter prior to that concert that he plans to release his second post-Idol album sometime in 2010.

Good thing. We’re not likely to hear new music from many of the Idol champs this year.

Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen all released new CDs in 2009.

Though I read somewhere than Fantasia might resurface with a new album before the year is out. And, of course, we can expect a November release from the winner of season nine.

Remember, season nine of Idol begins Tuesday and Wednesday with audition episodes (full January schedule at right). I’ll be blogging live during both shows.
