A Season 6 contestant on The Voice released her debut EP last month and has now followed up with her first music video.
Ddendyl’s video is for a heart-wrenching ballad called “Lonely Heart,” which just happens to be the title tune from that six-track EP.
Ddendyl was 25 when she auditioned for The Voice; you might remember her and her dad debating by how much cows outnumbered people in the small town of Castle, N.Y., where she grew up.
A member of Team Shakira, she made it to the second battle round in Season 6 before being eliminated.
Pre-Voice, she was a lounge singer in the Washington, D.C., area.
But don’t draw a conclusion about her new music from that description.
There’s a definite rock edge to “Lonely Heart,” especially on the tracks “Walls” and “Kicking and Screaming.” The latter is one of my favorite songs from a former Voice contestant this year.
If you’d like to catch Ddendyl live, you won’t have to go far. She’s got four shows coming up at the Jack Binion’s Steak Lounge at the Horsehoe Casino in Baltimore, with shows scheduled for this Friday and July 11, 17 and 25.

Now, here’s that video.
