Ddendyl Hoyt of the Voice Season 6 has released a new country single.

Ddendyl Hoyt, a Season 6 contestant on The Voice, has gone country.

In fact, she just released her first country single – “Where I Come From” – and the accompanying music video. You can check that out below.

Ddendyl was a lounge singer in the Washington, D.C., area before she auditioned for The Voice at age 25 and landed a spot on Team Shakira.

She made it to the second battle round that season before being eliminated.

Post-Voice, she released an excellent six-track EP called “Lonely Heart” (as Ddendyl) in 2015 that straddled the line between rock, pop and soul and included one of my favorite post-Voice songs that year, “Kicking and Screaming.”

She’s now based in Nevada, and the switch to country shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise.

After all, she grew up in the small town of Castle, N.Y. During her bio clip on The Voice, she and her bagpipe-playing father debated by how many cows outnumbered people in the community where she grew up. They wound up agreeing that it was by a lot.

Here’s the new music video.
