Did American Idol give platinum tickets to the right singers this year?

Time will tell. But for now, it seems the show is more impressed than fans with two of the three recipients.

That doesn’t include Canaan James Hill, whose undeniable talent was on display in the very last audition fans saw Sunday night.

He performed “I Need Your Glory.” Fans clearly loved what they heard. As of midnight Wednesday, his audition had been viewed more than 670,000 times on YouTube.

That’s makes his audition video easily the most popular of those American Idol posted to YouTube from Sunday’s show.

In fact, it’s been viewed twice as often as any of the other audition videos from Sunday’s show.

Fans haven’t reacted with the same enthusiasm to his platinum ticket colleagues, Kolbi Jordan and Filo.

Kolbi has nearly 900,000 views on her audition video. But she was featured in the season premiere, and that view total is dwarfed by the numbers racked up by Slater Nalley and Baylee Littrell, who were featured in the same show.

American Idol pre-leaked Filo’s audition, using it to promote its March 16 audition episode. Nevertheless, that video has been viewed less than 325,000 times.

Seven singers from the same show have more views on their audition videos. Sophie Powers, who didn’t make the show, has more than twice as many views as Filo.

Over the years, Idol has been hit-and-miss with its platinum ticket choices.

Last May, Abi Carter became the first platinum ticket recipient to win American Idol. HunterGirl, from Season 20, finished second.

But Kenedi Anderson, from the same season, dropped out after competing with the Top 24. Other platinum ticket winners failed to make it past the Showstopper Round. (Check out the list below).

Canaan, Filo and Kolbi got to sit out the first round of Hollywood Week.

But you can bet they’ll likely be featured in the Showstopper Round, which airs Sunday on ABC.
