Doctor’s Allison Iraheta prediction comes true

The machine that is 19 Entertainment has been busy announcing record deals all week.

The latest: Allison Iraheta, who finished fourth on American Idol this season.

A press release issued Wednesday morning says fans can expect a debut album from Allison this fall, the same timeframe announced for the debut albums from Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. Her recordings have been licensed to Jive Records.

The press release announcing Allison’s signing quotes the red-headed rocker as follows: “I think I’m still in shock that this is happening, getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true.”

And a fulfillment of a doctor’s prediction.

Remember the night this year’s contestants sang songs from the years of their birth? Remember the story Allison’s mom told? About how she was so concerned about Allison talking so much, she took her daughter to the doctor?

Have no fear, the doctor said. Your daughter is going to be a singer, a star.

Talk about prophetic.

Allison, a 17-year-old California native, was one of season eight’s most pleasant surprises. While other teen contestants wilted under the Idol pressure, Allison never seemed intimidated on stage.

And, minus Adam, she might have been the season’s most consistent performer. Their duet of Foghat’s “Slow Ride” was certainly one of Idol’s 2009 highlights.

Ironically, it also came on Allison’s last week on the show. She was voted off the next night, leaving Danny Gokey, Kris and Adam to vie for the Idol crown.

Speaking of which, no word on whether 19 plans to sign Danny. Of course, he might be the least marketable of this year’s final four.

But stay tuned. 19 Entertainment seems to be announcing a new signing every day.
