Domenic Haynes advanced for Team Adam Levine on The Voice Monday night.

He was declared the winner of a battle round match with Trey Rose.

The background: Domenic, 18, of Tampa, Fla., auditioned with “River” by Leon Bridges and turned three chairs. Trey, 26, of Hugo, Oklahoma, performed “Wake Me Up” by Avicii and turned two chairs.
The song: “I Need a Dollar” by Aloe Blacc
The feedback: The coaches all complimented the singers on an even performance, praising the passion with which Trey performed and Domenic’s unique vocals. Only Blake expressed a preference, saying he’d give a slight edge to Domenic.
The outcome: Adam awarded the win to Domenic, meaning Trey was eliminated from the show.
My take: Yep, Domenic’s vocals were excellent, especially that growl of his. And the fact that he’s got a distinct sound will help set him apart in the competiion. But I think I might have given this one to Trey. He showed off great range with his falsetto midway through the performance and brought unmatched energy to the stage. He can certainly take pride in that performance.
