Nicole and Josh Johnson make up Elenowen

The first duo ever to earn a spot on The Voice released an album featuring new versions of their favorite original songs on Friday.

Elenowen — the husband and wife duo of Josh and Nicole Johnson — released “Versions,” which features new versions of eight previously released songs.

“Tip: It’s particularly good as a morning record — making breakfast, drinking coffee kinda vibe. Also pairs well with nighttime hangs — bourbon sipping, chillin’ kinda vibe,” they write on Instagram.

My tip: It’s definitely worth a listen, especially if you aren’t already familiar with Elenowen’s music.

One of the re-imagined songs is “Desert Days,” a song written in the basement apartment the couple shared for five years, when many of their goals seemed out of reach.

“So we wrote “Desert Days” as a note of encouragement to ourselves. A reminder that good things take time & start small, & a reminder to not give up.

“It meant a lot to us then, & still does now. Even with two sons & a little house of our own, a whole other set of things are up in the air & out of reach, & this song serves us again as a hopeful reminder.”

Josh and Nicole performed the album at a special show in Nashville on Sunday.

Here’s a performance video of “Desert Days,” originally released on the couple’s 2015 album, “For the Taking.”
