The Twitter world is ablaze today with commentary on Simon Cowell’s pending departure from American Idol.

Here’s just a sampling of the comments I’ve caught today. I’ve included my favorites.

In addition to these, there was a mid-morning campaign calling for Sue Sylvester (who plays Jane Lynch on “Glee”) to replace Simon.

andysack: “I for one won’t watch American Idol without Simon Cowell.”

thatboyG: “Does anyone care that Simon is quitting American Idol? On the real, the show stopped being interesting after the first couple of seasons.”

Claudebaby: “American Idol will never be the same w/out Simon Cowell, I think it’s gonna die soon.”

Cadeely: “American Idol without Simon Cowell is just not American Idol.”

mariannexjonas: “SIMON COWELL CANT LEAVE IDOL. I’m auditioning whether he’s there or not but he BETTER not!”

RobArcher: “If they replace Simon Cowell with Dr. Gregory House, then I’ll watch American Idol.”
