Five fabulous songs from singers we’ll hear on The Voice

1

I spent part of the weekend listening to pre-Voice music from the singers we’ll hear tonight on NBC (8 p.m. EST).

It’s a talented bunch vying for votes from Team Cee Lo Green and Team Adam Levine.

The five songs below are among my favorites. And they show that this is a cast capable of doing a whole lot more than singing cover songs.

Confession: I did not listen to Tony Lucca’s entire discography (eight CDs, a live album and about six EPs). But I also really like “The Hustler, the Widow and the Boy from Detroit,” featured on his September 2001 “Solo” album.

Erin Martin (Team Cee Lo)
“Balloon”

Juliet Simms with Automatic Loveletter (Team Cee Lo)
“Save Me”

Tony Lucca (Team Adam)
“Pretty Things”

Karla Davis (Team Adam)
“Whiskey’s Got a Job to Do”

Tony Vincent (Team Cee Lo)
“One Deed”
