Former American Idol contestants came up empty at the American Music Awards Sunday night.
Carrie Underwood was nominated as favorite female country vocalist. That honor was one of four gobbled up by Taylor Swift, who was also named Artist of the Year.
Phillip Phillips was nominated as favorite new artist. That honor went to Ariana Grande.
Heck, even Blake Shelton couldn’t snap the singing show losing streak. He was nominated for favorite male country artist; Luke Bryan took the prize.
The lone singing show winner: Maroon 5 took the nob for favorite alternative artist, capping quite a week for Adam Levine, the sexiest man alive … or so says People magazine.
