Moriah made the Top 70, but was sent home in the Hollywood Week episode that aired Monday night.
In a social media post Tuesday evening, Moriah said she had been asked to audition for the show, was proud of her Idol performances and thanked fans for supporting her.
“We all have our own thoughts as to why Idol didn’t air my audition or performances and why they didn’t put me through,” Moriah writes. “Right now, none of that really matters. For whatever reason I wasn’t a good fit for the show.”
The only airtime she got was in the group round when her quartet — named Diversity — went through a bit of “where’s Juan Pablo” drama.
We heard Moriah sing a snippet of Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” on Sunday’s show and she sounded great. The talented Jade Flores was sent home following that group number.
Juan Pablo and Moriah met the same fate at the end of Hollywood’s solo round. From Diversity, only Myra Tran advanced o the Top 40.
Moriah also asked fans to support her good friend Madison VanDenburg, who is quickly becoming a front-runner among female contestants on Idol Season 17.
Apparently, Moriah and Madison — both from the Albany, N.Y., area — attended the same music school (Modern Day Music) and share the same voice coach (Lesley O’ Donnell), quite a ringing endorsement for both.
Moriah was 16 when she auditioned for Season 13 of The Voice (fall 2017), turned four chairs in the blind auditions and made it to the Top 20.
She’s released two singles since the show and was planning to drop a third earlier this year, then decided not to because she was being pulled toward pop and away from the rock music she’s always loved.
“Rock is WHAT I am,” she wrote in a separate social media post. “It’s not just about the music. It’s a lifestyle. A passion. So I’m going all in.”
Moriah certainly isn’t the first former Voice standout to wind up on Idol’s cutting room floor. Elia Esparza made it to the final day of Hollywood last year and we never met her on the show. Season 7 Voice finalist Taylor John Williams made it to the Top 48 in Season 16, and we never heard him either.
The good news for Moriah fans — she also posted that she just spent five days in L.A. writing and recording new music. Rock music, I’d bet.

Full disclosure I don’t watch American Idol, but I just can’t imagine anyone on there having a better voice than Mariah. It’s just nuts. For someone to be able to give me chills singing, of all things, a fucking Skid Row cover. Not just anyone can do that. Most Idol winners that have come onto my radar can’t come close to her.
One word: epic!
she was the best thing to ever come from American idol and the voice
