Adam Lambert was talking about his upcoming second album on the Grammy red carpet with Ryan Seacrest Sunday evening.
But fans won’t have to wait for that second album for a release of new music from Adam.
Last week, he announced plans for a live CD/DVD combo, “Glam Nation Live,” featuring recordings from a show at Clowes Hall in Indianapolis on Aug. 31.
“Glam Nation Live” will be released March 22. Pre-orders are being taken now on Adam’s website, at $17.99 for the CD/DVD and $39.99 for a package that includes the CD/DVD, an exclusive T-shirt and an oversized tour map.
One of the best things about the CD/DVD release from my viewpoint — for the casual fan, the one who purchased the basic version of Adam’s debut CD “For Your Entertainment” — the March 22 release will include four new tracks.
Those are “Down the Rabbit Hole” (featured on the deluxe version of FYE), “Vodoo” (featured on an album of remixes), “20th Century Boy” and “Ring of Fire.”
More than one season 10 contestant has pointed to Adam’s version of the latter song as their favorite moment ever on Idol.
Here’s what Adam told americanidol.com about the decision to release a live CD/DVD:
“I saw so many familiar faces at multiple shows. When I would talk to people at my meet and greets, they would say that they loved everything about the tour—the costumes, musicians, and dancers. We decided it would be a great idea to capture it all for anyone who didn’t get a chance to come see the tour or for people who want a memento.”

Now, unless I’m forgetting an album somewhere along the line, Adam will make Idol history with this release.
I believe he’ll become the first former contestant to ever release a full-length live CD.
And for those who’ve lost track, March 22 is looking like a big day for Idol fans.
In addition to Adam’s release, Jennifer Hudson’s second album launches that day. March 22 is also the announced release date for the “Change of Plans” Family Movie Night DVD/CD release. Brooke White starred in the made-for-TV film and has at least three new tracks on the soundtrack.
Meanwhile, here’s a clip that will be included on the “Glam Nation Live” CD/DVD, a brilliant, stripped-down version of the Grammy-nominated “Whataya Want from Me.”
