‘Gone, Gone, Gone’ not gone from music charts

Phillip Phillips’ second single will never match the success of “Home.”

But “Gone, Gone, Gone” continues to do well on the music charts.

Phillip Phillips performs last week on American Idol earlier this year. (FOX Photo)Well enough that it will be tough to consider Phillip a one-hit wonder, regardless of what happens in the future.

The song is now up to number five on Billboard’s adult pop songs chart; it was seven last week.

It has advanced to number eight on the rock song chart. And it holds steady this week at number 57 on the Hot 100.

Which isn’t overly hot, but bests every other Idol single anywhere on the charts this week.

As for “Home” … in addition to selling more than 4 million downloads, it’s also still number six on the adult contemporary chart, a year after its release.

Other chart highlights:

* Kelly Clarkson’s “People Like Us” moves up from number eight to number four on the dance chart. For all her success, Kelly had never had a song top Billboard’s dance/club play chart until last year, when “Stronger” and “Dark Side” did it consecutively. To watch the video, head here.

* Idol winner Candice Glover’s first single has dropped out of the Hot 100, at least for now. The song, which debuted on the charts last week, dropped from 13 to 15 on the R&B singles chart.

* Carrie Underwood’s latest — “See You Again” — is making a rapid advance on the country airplay chart, jumping from 19 to 14. The song sits at 19 on the hot country singles chart.

Here’s the complete chart rundown.
