Grammy nods for Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Mandisa

American Idol will have a chance to run its string of Grammy award shows with at least one winner to five.

And Carrie Underwood will have a chance of running her string of years with at least one Grammy award to four.

Grammy nominations have been announced, and Carrie is among three former Idol contestants so honored. The others: Kelly Clarkson and Mandisa.

Kelly has won before. Mandisa has not, though she was also nominated for her first Christian album, “True Beauty,” in 2008.

Best Female Country Vocal Performance (For a solo vocal performance. Singles or Tracks only): “Just A Dream” by Carrie Underwood against “Dead Flowers” by Miranda Lambert, “White Horse” by Taylor Swift, “I Just Call You Mine” by Martina McBride, and “Solitary Think'” by Lee Ann Womack

Mandisa gets a Grammy nomination for the second time.Best Country Collaboration With Vocals (For a collaborative performance, with vocals, by artists who do not normally perform together. Singles or Tracks only.): “I Told You So,” Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis against “Beautiful World” by Dierks Bentley and Patty Griffin, “Down the Road” by Kenny Chesney and Mac McAnally, “Start a Band: by Brad Paisley and Keith Urban and “Everything But Quits” by Lee Ann Womack and George Strait.

Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album: “Freedom” by Mandisa against “Speaking Louder Than Before” by Jeremy Camp, “The Power of One” by Israel Houghton, “The Long Fall Back to Earth” by Jars of Clay and “Love Is On the Move” by Leeland.
