So, tonight we find out which former American Idol contestants will be up for Grammy Awards in February.

Well, Idol just got shut out in the first two categories announces — song of the year and best new artist. The latter has to be a disappointment to Adam Lambert fans.

I mean, Justin Bieber gets a nomination and Adam doesn’t? What sense does that make?

Ah, especially after that lame Justin Bieber performance.

Finally, Idol gets a nomination. Carrie Underwood, of course, for best female country vocal for “Temporary Home.”

Her competition: Jewel with “Satisfied,” Miranda Lambert with “The House that Built Me,” LeAnn Rimes with “Swingin'” and Gretchen Wilson with “I’d Love to be Your Last.”

Carrie has won a Grammy for four straight years. Last year, she won for her “I Told You So” duet with Randy Travis.

But a little confession. On Grammy night, I’ll have to root for Jewel. Love that voice.

So, after an hour-long show, we know the nominees in what … something like five categories. And now we have to wait for Grammy.com to post the rest … ugh.

The Associated Press must have a list. They’re reporting that Eminem leads all artists with 10 nominations while Bruno Mars received seven. Getting six each: Lady Antebellum, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga.

A partial list of nominees is now available, and it looks like that one nomination is all Carrie Underwood received. She was not nominated for country album or song of the year.

No nominations for Fantasia in the key R&B categories either.

I’ll have to check out the complete list, including the Christian music nominations tomorrow.
