An American Idol contestant has won a Grammy every year since 2006.

And they’ll have a chance to continue that streak at this year’s Grammys on Feb. 12, though you wouldn’t know it by Wednesday night’s Grammy nomination concert.

Idols receiving Grammy nominations this year include Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and … surprise, Mandisa.

Well, it will only surprise those who aren’t aware of how well her third Christian album has been doing on the music charts.

Carrie is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for Mama’s Song.  She’ll be up against Blake Shelton’s “Honey Bee,” Taylor Swift’s “Mean,” Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem” and Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.”

Kelly and Jason Aldean are nominated for Best Country Duo or Group Performance for their hit duet, “Don’t You Want to Stay.” The competition includes “Barton Hallow” by the Civil Wars, “You and Tequila” by Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter, and “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” by Thompson Square.

Mandisa is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Album for “What If We Were Real.” The other nominations went to “Ghosts Upon the Earth” by Gungor, “Leaving Eden” by Brandon Heath, “The Great Awakening” by Leeland, and “Black and White” by Royal Tailor.

Another nomination of note: Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera got a nomination for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for their hit song, “Moves Like Jagger.”
