Haley Reinhart goes underwater in her music video for Deep Water.

Haley Reinhart goes underwater in her new music video and calls it one of the “most ambitious” things she’s ever done.

She truly spends most of the video underwater in a 1970s style living room created in the bottom of a pool.

The music video, directed by Naomi Christie, is for the song “Deep Water” from Haley’s “Lo-Fi Soul” album.

Haley told Forbes she met Christie as a photo shoot a while back and “we soon realized we had the same dream, to shoot an epic music video underwater.”

But performing for the cameras underwater isn’t as easy as it looks.

“Just before plummeting into the water, I got a few safety tips from our amazing camera operator, Brett Stanley,” Haley said. I had to take three deep breaths in and out.

“After my last inhale, I needed to exhale as much as possible, and then submerge eight feet underwater. I basically had to find the breath or air from within.”

Adds Haley on Facebook: “Since I was little, I always dreamt of channeling my inner mermaid/siren in a video … it was worth every breath I held!”
