Aranesa Turner says she got two huge compliments from Jennifer Lopez after auditioning for American Idol in San Francisco.

First, Jennifer compared her to Aaliyah, who Aranesa says she “loves with her whole heart.

Aranesa, 20, of Sacramento, Calif., sang “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and got a unanimous yes on advancing to Hollywood.

“I feel like my voice is truly a gift,” she says in her Road to Hollywood video. “I was just chosen to carry the gift and I really want to share it with other people. I think that shows when I sing.”

Aranesa says she’s inspired by Beyonce, not only by her vocal skill, but by her work ethic.

“Her everything, that’s my goal.”

Identified as a student on Idol, Aranesa has attended Northwest India College and Santa Monica College, according to her Facebook page.
