Add Maddie Assel’s name to the list of American Idol contestants bound for Hollywood because they were nominated by a relative.
Maddie is from Centreville, Va., but traveled to New Orleans for what she thought was a college audition.
She was at a restaurant with family members one night when Randy Jackson walked out and invited her to audition for Idol. Who put him up to it? A rather free-spirited grandmother, apparently.
It all worked out because Maddie delivered a raspy rendition of “Oh, Darling” for her Idol audition and wound up with a golden ticket to Hollywood.
I’ll be posting a bio blog on Maddie at a later date. Meanwhile, here are three other samples of her vocal talent.
