Taisha Bethea was the happy beneficiary of the new tie-breaker rule during American Idol’s Charlotte auditions.
With four judges on the panel, 2-2 deadlocks are possible. That’s just what happened after Taisha finished singing Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison” and Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know.”
In deadlocks, the hometown judge is the tiebreaker. And, in Charlotte, that meant Keith Urban, who wanted to see Taisha advance to Hollywood.
The 21-year-old is from Concord, N.C., and sings for a local band named Carson. And band members supported her decision to audition to Idol.
I’ll post a full bio blog on Taisha and other featured Idol contestants at a later date. Meanwhile, here are three videos of Taisha performing with Carson.
