After all, Harry Connick Jr. complimented her on a “perfect performance” and predicted she has the vocal talent to win the show.
What’s better than that? Perhaps a tweet from Carrie Underwood herself.
“Wow. I might have found a season favorite already! What a beautiful voice….” Idol’s Season 4 champ said in a tweet sent out after Sonika’s audition aired.
Sonika, 20, of Weston, Mass., actually tried out for The Voice back in Season 4, but failed to land a coach with her performance of “Give Your Heart a Break.”
She told her hometown FOX affiliate she actually took a break from singing and focused on her studies.
“For some reason, I couldn’t live without music,” she says in an interview you can watch here.
As for Idol, she described that as “a lifelong dream of mine.
“I’ve been watching since Kelly Clarkson. I’m just so glad for the opportunity.”
Sonika doesn’t have an recent music on YouTube; the cover song below is from when she was just 16.
But she does have a song on iTunes from a 2014 album featuring indie artists. You can listen to that below as well.
You can keep up with Sonika through Facebook. On Twitter, she is @Sonika_KAY_Vaid
