The Voice finalized its lineup for the playoffs Monday night when it aired the last six knockout round matches.
Each team will take five singers in the playoffs, which begin Monday, April 28 and conclude on Monday, May 5.
Two teams will perform each night. And once the singing ends, each coach will be forced to select the two singers they will take into the live semifinals.
No steals or saves this time around. Twenty singers will enter the playoffs; only eight will emerge.
Now, there are all sorts of problems and issues with this format, which I’ll delve into in later blogs.
Remember, not too long back, The Voice playoffs were live and included fan voting. This format means no fan voting until the final two episodes of the season.
Anyway, for those who’ve lost track because The Voice has stretched Season 27 out so much, here’s a look at who will be singing for each team in the playoffs.
Note that Adam will take four four-chair turns from the blinds into the playoffs; John will take two. Meanwhile, the five singers remaining on Team Michael turned a combined seven chairs in the blinds.
Oh, and this coming Monday, The Voice will air a recap show called Road to the Playoffs. So don’t expect to see any new performances. I’d advise skipping it altogether and watching American Idol, where fan voting started last weekend.
Following the links will take you to more on each artist.
