“Road to Hana” was released Friday. It’s a song Iam’s been playing live. And it’s a nod to his Hawaiian heritage.
“I’ve always been proud of my heritage and where I was raised,” he writes on Instagram. “Hawaii is such a big place with so many beautiful secret destinations.
“There’s a few however that are known around the world. The road to Hana is 64.4 miles of untouched beauty. This song is a celebration of that beauty and everything it has to offer.”
Iam’s last original was “Why Kiki?” Released late last August, the song has more than 4.7 million streams on Spotify.
It’s one of six Iam songs with at least a million streams on that site, a list led by his signature takes on “Monsters,” which has more than 7.4 million.
Iam released versions of two songs he performed on Idol — “Cool Down” and “Don’t Let Go” — in May.
Iam’s been touring like crazy since his Idol victory and currently has nine upcoming shows on the books.
That includes an Oct. 10 show at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in nearby York, Pa. Tickets for that show range from $44 to $58.
