Results time on Idol.
Yes, at 8 p.m.
Hey, this is FOX. You know they can’t stick to the same broadcast schedule for more than two straight weeks. It’s one of the reasons Idol is absolutely the only FOX show I will watch.
So, tonight we get to hear more Motown.
Tonight, we get to hear from Ruben Studdard, the season two winner. He’ll sing his new single.
And, tonight, we get to watch Michael Sarver or Megan Joy head home.
I mean that’s what this results show will boil down to, right?
And, if that’s the case, forget all the suspense surrounding the judges’ save. The judges pretty much told Michael they wouldn’t save him last week. After two so-so and one less than so-so performance, I can’t think Megan would be a leading candidate for a save either.
OK, we heard from Ruben. Sometime soon, we’ll get to the results. So, what did you think of Ruben’s new song?
Here come the results …
Adam Lambert is … safe, no surprise, right?
Matt Giraud is … he’s in the bottom three. Guess that’s the curse of performing first.
Kris Allen is … safe.
Lil Rounds is … safe, despite a shaky version of “Heat Wave.”
Michael Sarver is … in the bottom three. That was predictable.
Before more results, another musical interlude … or I suppose this Smokey Robinson-Joss Stone duet is supposed to pass for music.
Can I play Simon? Atrocious, simply atrocious. It couldn’t end soon enough.
Allison Iraheta next to learn her fate … she is safe. Good job, voters.
Anoop Desai gets to hear how “Oh, Baby, Baby” went with voters … just fine, thank you. Anoop is safe.
Danny Gokey next up. Here’s sure to be safe, too.
That means it’s down to Megan Joy and Scott MacIntyre for the final spot in the bottom three. Either, unfortunately, would be deserving based on last night’s performances.
Something of a surprise … Scott MacIntyre is in the bottom three.
OK, now Scott has been sent back to safety.
In a way, it’s not surprising that three guys are in the bottom three. This competition is way to cluttered with male pop singers, and they’re bound to split up the vote.
Finally, we’re down to the final results.
And the low vote-getter is … Michael Sarver.
And the judges will not use their save on Michael.
No shock there.
