New Idol Music, Season 10

Idol performances offered in album form on iTunes

Idol's top 13 performances are available as a compilation album on iTunes. (FOX Photo)If you’re interested in downloading many of the full-length studio versions of the songs the Idols sang Wednesday night, iTunes has a bargain for you.

For the first time, the 13 Idol performances are available album style, for $7.99.

Since downloading a single performance would cost you $1.29, that’s  a pretty significant discount.

And, remember, you’re not getting what you heard on the show. These are fully produced studio versions.

Interestingly, Pia Toscano’s “All By Myself” — not Naima Adedapo’s “Umbrella” — is the last track on the album. Talk about finishing on a high note.

Casey Abrams’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” sounds just as good as I remembered.

Two real studio treats — Paul McDonald’s version of “Come Pick Me Up” and Lauren Alaina’s “Any Man of Mine.” Both easily beat the live versions we heard Wednesday.

Meanwhile, if you were wondering, ratings for Wednesday’s episode of Idol topped even last Wednesday’s, which is pretty impressive. You can find a complete rundown on the numbers here.

Oh, as for the Idol Top 13 album, it hasn’t cracked the iTunes top 10 yet.

But Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” is still number one on the singles chart.
