Season 12

Idol still searching for Season 12 contestants

If you wanted to try out for American Idol Season 12 but just couldn’t make it to one of the audition cities, there’s still time.

A little more than 12 days, to be precise.

The show is holding online auditions. Well, basically, you send them a clip of yourself singing, and they might invite you to audition for a spot on the show.

But the offer ends Monday, Aug. 20, according to the countdown appearing here. (At another place on the site, Idol says the deadline is Aug. 14.)

Heck, you can even “nominate” a friend for an audition by sending  a clip of that person performing.

Idol says the “chosen” auditioners will be surprised on location by a film crew.

Now there’s a clear tweak designed to add drama to the show’s audition episodes.

The online auditions aren’t an entirely new concept. The show had them back in Season 10, when Karen Rodriguez made the finals in that manner.

Idol is also launching a small town audition bus tour that includes stops in plans like Dodge City, Kansas; Casper, Wyoming, and Idaho Falls.

Nope, if you’re wondering, there are no stops along the East Coast. But you can head here for more info.
