You never would have known it from the live broadcast, but American Idol didn’t come away empty handed from the People’s Choice Awards Wednesday night.
The show was named favorite TV competion show, beating out Hell’s Kitchen, America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars.
Oh, well, season nine wasn’t Idol’s best. Ratings suffered. But the show was still the most-watched in the nation, so I guess the award makes sense.
Former Idols Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood didn’t fare as well at Wednesday’s awards show.
Carrie lost the favorite country artist category to Taylor Swift and the favorite female artist category to Katy Perry. She was also nominated for favorite TV guest star for a role on “How I Met Your Mother.” The win went to Demi Lovato for an appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Chris and his band Daughtry were nominated for favorite rock band. That honor went to Paramore.

Here’s a photo gallery from the show. Lots of Karadashians. Sorry, no Idols.
