Idol’s Magnificent Screamer to front new rock band

Remember the Magnificent Screamer from American Idol Season 9?

Siobhan Magnus, who placed sixth in Season 9, is embarking on a new endeavor.

Siobhan Magnus plans to front a new rock band called Doubtful Guest in 2013.She’s going to front a band called Doubtful Guest that includes a pretty star-studded lineup.

Other members include Everclear bassist Sammy Hudson, Third Eye Blind guitarist Tony Fredianelli, Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart and Candlebox guitarist Peter Klett.

Of those groups, only Candlebox is still active. The new group is named after a book by illustrator Edward Gorey.

Doubtful Guest is planning to make its debut in January with a showcase of songs in Nashville, Siohban told The Boston Globe.

They’ll also likely launch a kickstarter campaign to help finance the project.

As for the music: They’re working on new tunes, but will also cover rock songs from the ’90s, including songs made popular by the members’ former bands.

“The arrangements will bring new life to the songs,” Siobhan told The Hollywood Reporter.

In the meantime, Siobhan has a couple of solo appearances planned, headlining a New Year’s Eve gala in her home state of Massachusetts and singing the national anthem at a Boston Celtics game on Jan. 2.

You can learn more about those appearances on her website.

Since Idol, Siobhan released an independent album called “Moonbaby.” Tracks worth checking out include “The Big Collapse” and “Black Doll.”

The latter is about a doubtful guest and made my list of 10 best Idol songs of 2011.
