The big news among Idols on the music charts this week is the performance of “Cowboy Casanova,” Carrie Underwood’s latest in a long string of hits.

The song is number 11 on the country singles chart for the second straight week. But talk about cross-over success. The song bolted from number 96 to number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

That makes it the best performing Idol single on the Hot 100 since Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” hit number one earlier this year.

Meanwhile, here’s a rundown on other Idols on the music charts.

Kelly Clarkson: Speaking of Ms. Clarkson, her latest single, ”Already Gone,” continues a slow but steady climb up the Hot 100, moving from 31 to 27 this week. And her album, “All I Ever Wanted,” moved up eight spots, from number 87 to number 79.

David Cook: Not a good week chart wise for David. “Come Back to Me,” his latest single, dropped out of the Hot 100. And his debut album, released in November, dropped out of the Billboard 200 after checking in at 184 a week ago.

Daughtry: In its 11th week on the charts, “Leave This Town” falls from number 24 to number 28 on the Billboard 200. The album’s lead single is still doing well — number 14 on the pop songs chart (down from nine) and number 34 on the Hot 100 (down from 30).

Kellie Pickler: Kellie’s self-titled second album got a big boost from the Taylor Swift co-written “Best Days of Your Life” and is still in the Billboard 200, though it slipped from 155 to 177 this week.

Jordin Sparks: Right now, Jordin’s the only former Idol who has a top 10 single. “Battlefield” checks in at number seven this week on the pop chart, the fourth straight week it’s been either six or seven. It’s also number 25 on the Hot 100, down four spots from last week. The album of the same name hasn’t caught on nearly so well. It’s number 125 on the Billboard 200 and dropped for the third straight week.

Phil Stacey: “If You’re Not Shaken,” his first single off his first Christian album, peaked at number 18 and is still number 21 on the Christian singles charts.
