Her blind audition performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Drive” was montaged, but landed her a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson.
The same happened in the battle round when she and Teana Boston sang “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” Kelly declared Jamella the winner.
Fans of The Voice finally got to hear what Jamella was capable of during a very strong performance of “Girl Crush” in the knockout round. Alas, Jamella was up against Brynn Cappelli and was eliminated.
Still, Jamella’s other two performances are available on iTunes and the 21-year-old from California called her time on the show “a great experience.”
Voice Views: I know the knockouts were filmed in early February. What have you been doing musically since then?
Jamella: Since February I have been preparing to release music in late May. As well as working on different game plans to only go up from here.
Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? Do you think you’ll be releasing new music in the future and, if so, what can fans expect?
Jamella: I see it leading me anywhere with enough hard work and dedication. I would love to do more TV alongside my music. I will be re-releasing my single called “Love N Hate.” As well as focus on my acting. Fans can expect my Pop/Rnb sound. I’ve got things lined up already… all set to kick off very soon.
Voice Views: What was your favorite performance from The Voice and why?
Jamella: My favorite performance was my battle performance. It was my favorite because I really stepped out of my comfort zone and nailed it.
Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice experience? If so, in what way?
Jamella: I definitely think I grew as an artist. I grew with my simplicity.. Kelly really taught me that it’s key.
Voice Views: Anything else you’d like to add about your time on the show?
Jamella: It was a great experience I wouldn’t take it back for anything. In fact if they decide to do comeback artists I’d love to be brought back!
