Jeffery Austin will release his debut EP next month.

Nearly three years after coming out of nowhere to make the finals on Season 9 of The Voice, Jeffery Austin is preparing to release his first major post-show project.

And he released “Answer,” the first song from his upcoming EP on Friday.

On Facebook, Jeffery calls it a new musical direction, adding “This is the music I’ve always wanted to make. It takes time, girls.”

Since The Voice, Jeffery has released a series of singles — “Only You” in 2016 and “Bulletproof” and “Stay the Night” last year.

The new five-song EP is called “Misguided” and Jeffery co-wrote the songs with producer and Season 9 Voice colleague Tim Atlas, who has also assisted several other Season 9 contestants with their post-show projects.

“Coming off ‘The Voice,’ I felt a lot of pressure to do many different things,” Jeffery told the Huffington Post in an interview posted Thursday. “With this music, I feel like I’m finally getting to say what I want to say.

“I hope my fans see my investment in developing myself as an artist and a songwriter outside of what they saw on the show. I hope they see that journey needed to happen.”

He also told the site he believes his new music reflect his truth as an openly gay man.

Back in Season 9 on The Voice, Jeffery became one of the most unlikely standouts in the show’s history.

At age 24, his blind audition cover of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” marked his first major performance since high school and turn just one coach’s chair, that of Gwen Stefani.

Yet his impassioned performances and pinpoint vocals soon made him a fan favorite and he wound up finishing four on the show behind only Jordan Smith, Emily Ann Roberts and Barrett Baber.

The “Misguided” EP will be out July 11. Meanwhile, here’s that catchy new song, “Answer.”
