Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia perform at celebration of life for Aretha Franklin

Family, friends and fans bid farewell to Aretha Franklin during a service at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit on Friday.

Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia were among those who took the stage during a celebration of Aretha’s life. The music legend died Aug. 16 at age 76.

Jennifer performed “Amazing Grace.” Fantasia sang “You’ve Got a Friend.” You can check out those performances below.

Other performers at Friday’s service included Ariana Grande, Chaka Khan, Faith Hill and Stevie Wonder.

Speakers included Smokey Robinson, former President Bill Clinton, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and many others.

Said Clinton: “The secret of her greatness was she took this massive talent and this perfect culture that raised her and decided to be the composer of her own life’s song — and what a song it turned out to be.”

And, trust me, we’ll still be hearing her songs. I doubt Season 15 of The Voice will pass before someone covers a song made famous by Aretha Franklin.
