Jeremy Rosado is hoping lessons learned on American Idol serve him well on The Voice.

Back in 2012, Jeremy auditioned for Season 12 of American Idol and made it all the way to the Top 13.

Now 29, the Tampa, Fla., resident auditioned for Season 21 of The Voice by putting his own twist on Rascal Flatts’ “Here Comes Goodbye.”

It took a while, but he earned chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton.

Kelly called Jeremy’s rendition of the song “incredibly cool,” and Jeremy opted to join her team.

Here’s what Jeremy told Voice Views about his blind audition experience.

Voice Views: How did you wind up auditioning for Season 21 of The Voice?

Jeremy: I ended up auditioning for Season 21 because I just wanted to give it a shot. I genuinely didn’t expect a call back, let alone get to blind audition!

Voice Views: You did quite well on American Idol. What did you take away from that experience that you think will help you on The Voice? And how do you feel you’ve grown as an artist since then?

Jeremy: Being on American Idol definitely taught me how to be on TV, how to perform on camera and I feel like all these years of experience will give me a small upper hand on the competition.

Voice Views: Why did you decide to perform “Here Comes Goodbye” for your audition song?

Jeremy: Honestly, I sang “Here Comes Goodbye” because I love the song! I’m a huge Rascal Flatts fan and I knew this song would allow for moments to shine.

Voice Views: How would you describe that blind audition experience?

Jeremy: The blind audition experience is TOUGH… Singing to the backs of chairs is not easy when you are desperate for them to turn. I’m so thankful it worked out.

Voice Views: And why did you decide to join Team Kelly?

Jeremy: I decided to join team Kelly, because she is one of my biggest inspirations. Her winning Idol is the reason I ever wanted to a show like this!
