Jessica, Phillip to sing ‘individual’ new singles Tuesday

0

Nigel Lythgoe took to Twitter this morning to tell us what we can expect in the American Idol finale Tuesday night (8 p.m. EST).

Each contestant will repeat their favorite song from the season.

Each contestant will sing a song selected by Idol creator Simon Fuller.

And each contestant will sing his or her individual new single.

Hopefully that will prevent a “This Is My Now” fiasco like back in Season 6 when both singers were asked to sing the same “new single,” a song that suited Jordin Sparks a heck of a lot better than Blake Lewis.

Of course, it doesn’t necessarily mean someone won’t get stuck with a stinker like “No Boundaries,” the notoriously atrocious Season 8 coronation song.

Among Nigel’s other reveals this morning …

** Joshua Ledet was his favorite contestant

** He says Jessica and Phillip have not dominated the vote each week, but that it “changed each week” with Josh, Colton, Skylar and Elise also getting lots of support.
