John Taylor Williams wins spot in live playoffs on The Voice

0

Taylor John Williams caught a break in the battle round, when Gwen Stefani allowed him to advance despite a so-so performance of “Jolene.”

He didn’t need a break in the knockout round. Singing “Mad World,” he turned in a performance that Pharrell Williams called “hypnotic” and that Gwen said had “the whole room in a trance.”

The result: The 23-year-old from Portland, Oregon, will be one of the 20 singers in The Voice live playoffs two weeks from now.

Taylor won a knockout round match against Troy Ritchie, who turned in a fun performance of “Hey, Y’all” by OutKast. But he didn’t get stolen, meaning he was eliminated from the competition.
